Kindergarten Prep (PS 3)
Children who are 4 years old by September 7, 2021, are eligible for Kindergarten Prep. This program is intended for students who will be entering kindergarten programs in the 2022-2023 school year. The K Prep format is designed to promote school readiness for kindergarten programs at Cedar Crest and in the community. K Prep students enjoy a comprehensive curriculum rich in humanities while developing academic skills and social-emotional maturity for kindergarten success.
Our K Prep students benefit greatly from our collaborative relationship with the world language, music, physical education and art teachers of Cedar Crest Academy. Each week, Cedar Crest Academy’s ancillary teachers visit our K Prep classrooms to provide specialized instruction in world languages, music, art, and physical education. Cedar Crest’s world language teachers are native speakers who offer cultural learning experiences in addition to foreign language instruction. Early childhood students enjoy large group games, tumbling, and traditional sports activities lead by our physical education teacher in Cedar Crest Academy’s full-size gymnasium. Our uniquely comprehensive Preschool and K Prep programs are rich with meaningful learning opportunities to promote the physical, emotional, cognitive, and social development of young children.
Half and full day program options are available. A minimum participation of three mornings per week is recommended for optimal academic preparation.
Cedar Crest Early Childhood Center and Cedar Crest Early Learning Center are located in Clarkston, Michigan. Our early childhood programs are accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC®). NAEYC® accredited centers adhere to standards and practices that exceed licensing standards. NAEYC® standards reflect best practices in early childhood education programs that are supported by research and ongoing evaluation of programs.
