Preschool will run in-person as scheduled during phase 4 of Michigan’s reopening status. In-person preschool classes will be available for students whose parents/guardians are essential workforce members during phase 3. Program operation during phase 1 & 2 is TBD. The first day of the 2020-2021 school year is Tuesday, September 8, 2020.
Children who are 2.5 years old (30 months) to by September 8, 2020, are eligible for Preschool. Children who are 4 years old by September 8, 2020, are eligible for Kindergarten Prep. Spanish Immersion is available on Wednesday, 9 a.m.-12 p.m., as an alternative to Preschool/K Prep.
Our Preschool and K Prep students benefit greatly from our collaborative relationship with the world language, music, physical education and art teachers of Cedar Crest Academy. Each week, Cedar Crest Academy’s ancillary teachers visit our preschool classrooms to provide specialized instruction in Spanish, Chinese, music, art, and physical education. Cedar Crest’s world language teachers are native speakers who offer cultural learning experiences in addition to foreign language instruction. Early childhood students enjoy large group games, tumbling, and traditional sports activities lead by our physical education teacher in Cedar Crest Academies full-size gymnasium. Our uniquely comprehensive Preschool and K Prep programs are rich with meaningful learning opportunities to promote the physical, emotional, cognitive, and social development of young children. Cedar Crest Early Childhood Center has multiple Preschool and K Prep classrooms for students, 2.5-5 years old. We are committed to balancing social and play opportunities with an individualized and accelerated learning experience for each student.
Class placement is determined by several variables including age and social/emotional development. This deliberate and thoughtful process ensures that each student receives the support and challenging opportunities required to learn at their highest potential.
Cedar Crest Early Childhood Center is located in Clarkston, Michigan. Our early childhood programs are accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC®). NAEYC® accredited centers adhere to standards and practices that exceed licensing standards. NAEYC® standards reflect best practices in early childhood education programs that are supported by research and ongoing evaluation of programs.
