Athletics is more than competition. Participating in athletics is an opportunity for health, safety, self-discipline, fitness, movement, and sportsmanship. Physical education, strength training, yoga, and fitness are part of every school day. We cheer when the Cedar Crest Academy Timbers play soccer, volleyball, and basketball and participate in track and field.
Cedar Crest Academy offers a middle school athletic program to include traditional team and individual sports, as well as recreational and cooperative activities to develop each student’s physical skills, fitness, and self-confidence. Middle School Physical Education Requirement
Students may meet their Middle School Physical Education requirement with two options:
- Participation in two interscholastic sport seasons
- Participation in one interscholastic sport season and one athletic elective quarter (during the school day), per year.
Athletic electives are offered during the school day as a quarter elective, meeting twice per week. Students have the opportunity to participate in traditional team and individual sports. Students build confidence and develop a life-long love for physical activity and fitness.
The Interscholastic Sports programs include JV & Varsity boys and girls teams for: soccer, basketball, volleyball, and track & field. The Timbers compete in games with other schools. Emphasis is placed on improving physical competence and sportsmanship. CCA students are required to participate in one interscholastic sports team during the school year. A waiver may be given for students participating in exterior sport/competitive leagues. Team practice follows the academic day from 3:30-5:00 p.m., Tuesdays and Thursdays during the season.
